Calvin Mercer is advocating spending more tax dollars for greenways and air travel. As an ECU professor, he has not done his homework.
The city has $1 million of unspent tax dollars available for greenways.
This City Council has accomplished more for greenways in the last six years than any other council. It is a priority listed in long-term goals that have been established in a written document by council members who are from the business community. The airport authority has another $1 million available for additional air service. They have worked relentlessly in seeking additional air service for Greenville.
Why do you need more tax dollars, Dr. Mercer?
Our homes are being revalued for new tax rates next year. We don't need an uninformed candidate on the City Council looking to spend more tax dollars.
Spending more money is not the solution.
