Be Americans and stop bashing Obama
Monday, February 8, 2010
I am writing this letter to stop bashing people regardless of the rights the First Amendment conferred onto you. Bashing President Barack Obama and grandstanding with little knowledge needs to be stopped.
There were 700,000 jobs lost before he even took office, and he was left with a $1.3 trillion deficit. President Bill Clinton left office with a $200 billion surplus. Two wars dug us into this deep fiscal troubles.
Obama needs to cut a deal to pass health care reform as he did with financial reform package that passed in the House in December with zero Republican votes. People will realize the benefit of the reform later when they get benefits. He also needs to ignore the phalanx of lobbyists for their greed will seek to defeat such needed health care legislation.
In our nation, we need to have two things very desperately: systematic risk regulation and resolution for all banks and Wall Street, and financial conservation with the passage of health care reform.
The Supreme Court’s decision is so erroneous and allows any foreign corporation can invest in the nation’s presidential election. Does this make any sense? You analyze this. Again do not be partisan. I am writing as an American not as a partisan.
While Ben Bernanke makes only $196,700 per year as the Fed chairman with zero bonus, our school superintendent makes close to $180,000 with huge perks like clothing expenses that make no sense. We are sacking all physical education, art and computer teachers apart from substitutes while having too much administrative staff like assistant principals. That makes no sense, and is totally ridiculous in Pitt County. We also need to pass the Senate term limits to make the mission work more efficiently and the younger generation needs to come to politics. Thank you and god bless our nation, the USA.

Pot calling kettle black
Mr. Rao, after 8 years of reading you bash President Bush (right or wrong), you now get religion on the practice? This really is the pot calling the kettle black.
You comment that when Bush took office, he inherited "a $200 billion surplus" and "left with a $1.3 trillion deficit". The $200 billion surplus was a budgeted surplus over 10 years. As an accountant, I can tell you that a 2 year budget means very little, let alone a 10 year budget. Each administration, both D's and R's paint as rosy a picture as possible. You shouldn't believe it. According to the treasurydirect.gov, the national debt has grown every year since 1957. There was no surplus that was inherited. Very slow growth in the national debt, but no savings. I'll agree with you on the $1.3 trillion deficit where Bush was compliant with the Democrat controlled congress.
If pro is the opposite of con, what is the opposite of progress?
Regarding health care - you left out the greedy lobbyists who will gain by the legislation passing. Don't think for a moment that they don't exist and are pushing at least as hard as those who oppose the legislation.
Thank you for your opinions.
Amazing
Don't bash Obama. Ok, let's see. We have a larger deficit than any other period in history, except after WWII. He wants to put into law that Americans must buy healthcare coverage, regardless of whether they can afford it or not. He wants to put into law that Americans can buy healthcare coverage for preexisting conditions without doing anything about the costs of premiums, he has broken every campaign promise he made except for working on healthcare reform (by the way, he criticized Hilary for wanting all citizens to have to buy coverage while campaigning). He wants to try the very people who tried to blow New York City off the map IN NEW YORK CITY. And probably the biggest flop has been in job creation. I do not call building bridges and roads putting the majority of Americans back to work. Where are the jobs he promised? Not to mention he thinks most Americans are ignorant and just don't understand. And what about the money that was paid back by the banks, etc. that was to go back to offset some of the deficit? We won't talk about unions, etc. He deserves to be bashed.
to kishen--some of your
to kishen--some of your letter makes some sense--no need to criticize--we have the right, and a duty to criticize our local, state, and national leaders and the decisions they make. how fortunate we are to live in a country where we can be critical or praising.
Native Americans
Do really think the people that were living here first called them selves American? Europeans did not call the New World America till 1507. Why would they take a Italian name? Columbus had already named them after India some place else they properly never heard of.
Always "fun"..
...to read what the xenophobic, right wing nut jobs among us have to say. Prejudice and ignorance always brings a lot to the conversation.
Let's get it straight
500 billion of that 1.3 Trillion was paid back by the banks after King O took office. He then turned around and spent it to return to 1.3 Trillion. MMMMMM! You book end Bush with Clinton and King O with the motive of bashing Bush. If you want the bashing to stop - why don't you stop it yourself. I for one am completely happy with my health plan and DO NOT want it changed in any way. Fiscal planning on my part for the past 35 years got me where I am - not another gimme plan by the government. I am not happy with Pitt County Schools, the pork in the central office, the over abundance of administrators and am doing my part to reduce the waste there.
Only Americans
KISHEN C. RAO you dont even sound American, mind your own business.
Mel
You've got to be kidding, right? You think people with foreign-sounding names don't "sound" American? Unless you are Native American, then your people were not originally American. And by the way, I bet your family's surname got Americanized once they hit this continent, just like most people's did. This xenophobic crap is wrong and it's disgusting!! You should be ashamed. Ideas like that are the antithesis of American values.
