Laurels — To the 20th annual Eastern Carolina Unnatural Resources Fair, taking place this weekend at the Greenville Convention Center. The event encourages participants to create items using recycled materials, showing the dynamic nature of what most believe to be refuse. Admission to the fair is free and the public can learn a great deal by attending.

Laurels — To the 21st annual Friends of Sheppard Memorial Library Book Sale, also taking place this weekend at the convention center. The sale is a key source of revenue for the library and affords customers the opportunity to get a great deal on a wide variety of titles. Makes sure to be there early to ensure a shot at grabbing the most popular selections.

Darts — To a Tuesday duplex fire on Deck Street caused by unattended candles that left 10 people homeless.
