Elks recommended for Pitt County sheriff
Thursday, February 4, 2010

I am writing this letter in support of Neil Elks for sheriff.

I lived in Pitt County from 1983-2008. From 1986-1997, I served the citizens of Greenville as a police officer.

During that time, I had many opportunities to work with Elks as he was serving as a Pitt County deputy sheriff. Elks is a sincere man who truly has as his desire to perform his duties as a law enforcement officer to the best of his ability for the people of Pitt County. He would make an excellent choice for sheriff.

I’ve known both Mac Manning and Elks for more than 20 years now and both are good men. However, with some of the issues that have faced the sheriff’s office over the past couple of years, it may be time for a change. I sincerely believe that Elks has the ability, character and integrity to be one of the best sheriffs in the history of the county. I believe he will run a top-notch department that will be emulated by law enforcement agencies across the United States.

If I was ever to return to Pitt County and to re-enter law enforcement, I would not hesitate to apply with a department led by Neil Elks.

It would be an honor to serve under such a man who truly believes in the role of a law enforcement officer as a steward of the community that he or she serves.

NO way!

He's Pompus,no vote !!!

Pitt County

Being that you don't live in Pitt County your endorsement is meaningless.

meaningless?!?

Buster, I really have to wonder about your cognitive abilities. Kevin said he lived in Pitt County for 25 years, and worked as a Greenville police officer for 11 of those years. Have you done that? Until you have, then maybe we could say that Kevin's opinion is more valid than yours, even if you live here now. Let's hear about your law enforcement experience.

meaningless?

The man speaks about Neils qualities and you think it is meaningless? I know both Mac and Neil and I live in Pitt Co. and I agree with the writer. I want a sheriff who has a good morals and doesn't back a felon. Neil you have my vote!

I disagree

I disagree with you Buster. He knows Mr. Elks, and he worked with him. He has every right to share positive things about him.
