News this week in Raleigh has been dominated by the legislative demagoguery over an absurd proposal to ask voters to punish thousands of people by writing discrimination into the state constitution with an anti-gay marriage amendment.
The three-day special session cost taxpayers $150,000, enough to pay the salary of five first-year teachers — or one Chief of Staff for House Speaker Thom Tillis.
The entire waste of money and time distracted lawmakers and much of the general public from some other important news of the week that legislative leaders would rather not talk about.
