Letter: Congress: Read the bill, U.S. history

Monday, November 02, 2009

Our founding fathers signed a document that put all their possessions and their lives in jeopardy. This document was the Declaration of Independence. Their dream was a better life for their children and their grandchildren through freedom from government and tyranny imposed.

Liberalism, on the other hand, seeks its own selfish agenda. The rich liberal desires to give up nothing without a reward, and yet to ease the conscious of his wealth, they desire to be philanthropical with the average person's money.

In their philanthropical adventures, they seek to control the will of those who are less fortunate.

They play upon the fears of the unfortunate tiers in society and force the working person to pay for his agenda through taxes. This is tyranny at its worst.

Everyone wants a health care bill. We all need the coverage. Let us produce a bill that everyone can read and agree upon. It needs to be written in the open and not in a back room with hidden agendas imposed.

Will President Barack Obama succeed in this bill? Success is a two-edged sword that can heal or destroy, depending on the motive of the author.

America has a plan that will help Obama succeed. Give up your free health care, Congress, and buy your own plan. Give up your personal jets paid for by the taxpayers. Give up your crooked land deals in Nevada and give up your $100 million-plus bonus that was earned by nearly bankrupting our economy in the housing industry. Then you will touch the spirit that our founding fathers had at the beginning.

There is a question of whether Congress has read the current bill. I have a question: How many in Congress have actually read the Declaration of Independence?

To BB: Making such assumptions about me just shows what an idiot you show yourself to be.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, could be worse that what this administration has done to this country. It is divided in a way that probably hasn't happened in over 100 years. And Obama has done nothing, and I mean nothing, he said he would. Where are the jobs he promised? Your dems can not get anything done and they have the numbers. NO, you will see change in 10/12.

Interesting

how some people see nothing wrong with the whole "give me all for free" theory. I wonder when and where people lost their pride. I remember my grandparents' utter dismay and embarrassment at accepting a piddly amount of food stamps to make sure they had enough to eat. NOw people are proud of the fact that our government support their every need. What happened?

I do not believe you are telling the truth when you wrote independent, conervative, libertarian. I think you are a run of the mill liberal Democrat. You used three comment boxes to bash Bush and Republicans and not one time did you write the word Democrat.

Robbing you or killing you....hmmm....on the one hand you got those danged libruls robbing you, got their hands right in your pockets, and redistributing your hard earned $. Then you got your Republicans, who I witnessed, when they had complete control, killing us by relaxing pollution standards, unnecessary wars, dropping oversight and regulation on industries....none of which is good for our health.

Now we have a whole new set of headaches...meet the new boss, same as the old boss. But it's the difference between someone robbing you, or someone killing you. Neither is desirable, but given the choice...The Republicans were far worse than any 'liberals' who want to give away my money. So you guys keep squealing, it's the American way, just don't get your hopes up. because America is wisde to you.

Being a fiscally conservative moderate libertarian Independent, when I read hyperbole like this, I'm glad the country changed direction from the last 8 years of corporatism, cronyism, creating wars for profit, Republicanism. The words 'life, liberty & the pursuit were in the Declaration, but the concept of providing for the general Welfare are in the Constitution, but of course that is socialism. We've become the Corporate States of America.

Tyranny at its worst?

11/02/2009 08:13:06 AM

Ever heard of Pol Pot? His type of tyranny didn't involve puppy dogs and ice cream, I assure you. You may not agree with how tax monies are collected or how much is taken, but let's have some perspective here.
