Letter: Johnson-Anderson the one to lead city

Sunday, November 01, 2009

I am writing to express my support for Minnie Johnson-Anderson for mayor of Greenville. Johnson-Anderson has given many years of service to the citizens of Greenville and its surrounding communities. She has not only been active on many of the city's boards and commissions and chair of the Redevelopment Commission for two terms, she also gives tirelessly in the form of volunteer service to whoever needs it.

She understands the true meaning of servanthood, which is often overlooked as a key quality in a leader. The key thing about Johnson-Anderson is she listens to people.

That is what this city needs right now; someone who is going to listen to the entire city and mold its policy accordingly.

We need someone who is smart enough to not vote down a multimillion-dollar development in a time of economic recession because a few people think they have a right to say what others do with their property. We need someone who is strong enough to lead and demand action to our crime problem for the entire city instead of reacting to a random act of violence by spending half a million dollars to fight crime in one block of the city.

We need a strong leader and that is why I am supporting Minnie Johnson-Anderson for mayor and I hope you will join me.

I will close by saying our city is a growing city with a sprawling university and hospital.

This is something you can't stop and should not want to. Let's embrace our downtown night life, let's embrace our ECU students and let's embrace the fact that Greenville is the hub of everything good about eastern North Carolina and let's grow together.

Minnie Johnson-Anderson is the one to lead us.

You guys on here have done everything in your power to make people scared to vote for Minnie because of her skin color. Race is rarely mention in any letters from people stating they support her. The daily reflector should make you disclose your name. So the public can know who the city real racist are. Grow up and quit trying to tear our city apart.

Wouldn't it be superb to have one who manages real estate to serve as mayor? Minnie Johnson-Anderson does, and she undertands that new fees to landlords would simply be passed on to tenants. Let's elect MINNIE ANDERSON for MAYOR.

We need new leadership. After so many years we need new people that can take this city into a new direction and solutions to the crime problem and downtown problem which the City Council have delayed until Novmeber 9th. We need to protect our business owners so they can continue to hire people and keep them employed. Don't put the small businesses
out of business.
