Letter: Christmas generosity appreciated

0 Comments | Leave a Comment

This past Christmas season, The Salvation Army, its officers and staff were blessed with the joy of teaming with a community that genuinely cared for its own. November and December proved fruitful and faithful as those within our local Pitt County communities joined together in giving to the greater good and sacrificing their money, toys, food and time for the benefit of others in need.

Collaborating the faith proved powerful this year as kettle donations increased almost $22,000 compared to last year’s collection, manned by volunteers, board members, paid workers and community groups.

Here is a look at all that was given: More than 1,400 kids were “adopted” and given Christmas toys which were donated, purchased and collected from various agencies and local offices throughout Pitt County.
