As a high school career and technical educator for the last 37 years, I have had many opportunities to visit many secondary and post-secondary educational programs in North Carolina as well as many other states.
I recently had the pleasure to attend the open house for the new automotive systems facility at Pitt Community College. “Impressed” can not even come close to describing the new facility and its staff. I found the facility to be very functional and well designed with a priority on usability. The training equipment was first rate and industry standard, as it should be.
Perhaps most impressive was the knowledge and excitement of the staff. All of the staff I met, including college President Dr. Dennis Massey, department chairman Norman Lilly, instructor Pete Gregory, and TA Al Dawes, showed a true desire to make Pitt Community College’s automotive program one of the nation’s best. From what I saw, they are well on their way to obtaining their goal.
