In the month of December, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office explorer post has had two meetings and a competition in Williamston. From Dec. 9-11, the post went to Williamston and hosted a competition in Martin County. Cadet Captain Cody Jones chaired this event. Our explorer post came out on top, scoring first place in numerous events.

The cadets received first place trophies in the following: crash scene, crime scene, burglary, shotgun and handgun qualification and the basic law enforcement training (BLET) driving course. The cadets received second place in felony traffic stops, report writing, shotgun and handgun qualification, search warrants, the BLET driving course and domestic violence. Finally the cadets received a third place trophy for rapid deployment. The cadets scored high enough in each event to receive the first place overall trophy. The cadets in Post 911 worked very hard in December and also had a lot of fun. After the competition all of the cadets from each post spent the rest of their night bowling with each other.

At the last meeting Sgt. Garcia from the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office taught the cadets a new form of hand cuffing. Gracia did an excellent job at teaching the cadets this valuable lesson, and for that Post 911 would like to thank him.
