Obama's missteps, first year disappointing
Friday, February 5, 2010

President Barack Obama’s approval has already dropped below 50 percent. His trouble started when he tried to solve so many problems in a short period of time.

First he tried to take care of the mistakes made by the Bush administration. Next he wanted a sweeping health care plan passed as soon as possible and had a 1-3 a.m. vote on it. Wow. Vote on it when most people are sleeping? Daytime hours were the time this action should have occurred, when more people would have watched. See, this is the people’s business and it’s one way to make sure it’s not partisan.

Next, he was going to restore jobs and take care of the financial mess. Also, he was going to solve education problems and take care of the Iraq and Afghanistan crises, plus solve the issue of climate control.

He wants to let some terrorists out of prison and put them in our surroundings. He’s had three times more interviews than President George W. Bush and has had four more prime-time press conferences. Having all these appearances, one would think he’s still a candidate for the presidency.

This administration seems naive and hopeless in wanting to face the full truth about Islamic terrorism. This has caused public frustration over the way Obama’s security agencies handled the latest Jihadist attempt to blow up a plane on Christmas Day, even after the terrorist’s father let it be known his son had been trained to be a terrorist.

Blaming others, including Bush, for the country’s predicament is getting less persuasive, Mr. President. It’s time to take control of things and accept the blame for what happens now.

The first year of a president defines the president and at this point a lot of people are disappointed.

The air is slowly going out of Obama’s big balloon.

The real blame

was when Clinton was in office and gave all those loans to people who did not have to show a pay stub. And then comes the housing downfall. But many do not want to hear that it was the Democratic party who caused this to happen,All they see is it happened while "Bush was in office".Nothing else matters.obama would have never got voted in if voters would have stood back and realized he is exactly as his church, and that he could not walk on water.

Bush = two unpaid wars, two unpaid tax cuts, one large unpaid entitlement Medicare D. The vast, vast majority of the deficits projected for the next decade are one thing: Medicare. To say otherwise is to just lie or put your head in the sand.

to Mel

Why is it that you think Medicare is the reason the United States is in the mess it is in? Medicare is the only think some people can come up with. I am going to research something that I heard on television, and NOT ON FOX. It went something like this: If the government would leave medicare alone, it would sustain itself for over 30 years, just as it is. The problem is that the government dips into medicare far too often. If you are talking medicaid, that's one thing. Tax dollars pay for medicaid 100%. Medicare is paid into by working people. Agreed, what you pay in may not cover all your expenses, but look at the money paid in by people who never use it because of lack of need, death, etc. I am sick to death of this issue being used as a scare tactic to make senior citizens uneasy and worried about their future unless they buy into the crap the idiots in Washington are feeding them.

It's always easiest being in the opposition. And if the opposition got back in there, what could we expect? More of the same of what they gave us the first 6 years of this century? Go back to that, when we are still trying to make it through the mess they left us that last time? What are their ideas? I haven't actually heard any, and I've been listening hard. Oh yeah, there's more tax cuts and less regulation on corporations. That really worked out well for us. If these guys get back in there on the 'I'm not Obama' platform we are in trouble that will make our present situation pale in comparison.

Perspective...

Reagan's approval rating was around 50% after his first year What did that mean in the grand scheme of his presidency? Nothing. He served eight years and was popular. President Clinton's popularity was hurting after a year, Democrats lost the 1994 elections... yet Clinton was reelected and turned out to be a popular president (despite his personal shortcomings).
Obama had a 3am vote health care? That's interesting, I didn't know that the president organized and participated in votes in Congress. I agree Congress has mishandled health care reform, and if anything Obama could have been more involved and tried to push through a more clear message, instead of letting it get muddied by Congress.
Obama is soft on terrorism? He has increased the troop presence and strategy in Afghanistan, and the US captured/killed more terrorists in 2009 than in 2008 under Bush.

Terriorism

Afghanistan withstanding, he was insane to believe that he can bring back to this country people who plotted against us and expect the citizens of this nation to be excited. And to want to have the trials in New York City? Just another example of his "in your face" attitude. That should never have even been considered. It may not be right, but I really do not care what happens to these people. And I sure as heck do not what to see any tax money used to defend them. And, as for Afghanistan, he did not want to send more troops there. My guess is that, without the urging of his czars, he would have brought all our troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq. They are his buddies, remember?

lets hope we can completely

lets hope we can completely deflate his baloon come 2010!
