President doing well considering challenges
Friday, February 5, 2010

President Barack Obama recently completed his first year in office and the talk was about what kind of job he has done so far.

I think the president has done a good job, considering the economy was on the verge of a second depression.

If I was inheriting what he inherited, I would have said thanks but no thanks.

As a supporter of the president, I never thought for one second that he was going to walk into the Oval Office, wave a magic wand and everything would change. When it comes to the stimulus package, 60 percent say it hasn’t worked. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t some of that money go to the 50 states so that policemen, firemen and teachers wouldn’t have to be fired?

Didn’t some of that money go to extend unemployment benefits, tax cuts and things such as food stamps for the unemployed to help people pay for their insurance, etc.

Is there more work which needs to be done? Of course there is. But I keep saying we didn’t get into this mess overnight and we won’t get out of it overnight.

Yes we need jobs, and wouldn’t it be nice if the Congress would work together to come up with a job program? Put people before party. How nice that would be.

And now a few words about health care. What kind of health coverage do these senators and congressmen and women have and who is paying for it? If I’m not mistaken, it’s the taxpayers who are paying for their great health coverage. Then why can’t we get the same kind of coverage they have?

In other words, we want what we are paying for them to have.

No one has asked me but I’m going to voice my opinion anyway. I don’t regret voting for President Obama. I think he is doing a good job.

So funny

Just read Obama has set up a meeting to be televised on Feb. 25 with Dems, Repubs, and Obama to work on healthcare bill. He wants the Republicans input into this bill, wants to hear their ideas. Second paragraph - No, he will not scrap the bill on the table. He wants them to give their ideas on how to make this bill work. He has instructed the Dems in the house and senate to come up with one bill before the televised meeting. Now, I ask you, is this really bipartisan? Are the Republicans really getting an opportunity to help write this bill? No, it's just another opportunity for Obama to make people believe that he is looking for bipartianship when really all he is doing is trying to make those pesky Republicans look as if they are against all his ideas. Why would they want a bill that is going to cost this country so much to go into law? If Brown had not been elected, this meeting would never have taken place. No matter what they suggest, no matter what their input, it will not matter. This is just another sorry piece of crap by this administration.

mel--you proved nothing-just

mel--you proved nothing-just your usual rantings which may account for your being tired and bored. cheat notes in the hand prevents her head from bobbing left to right reading from a telepromptor.

Mel

But what were her cheat notes for? They were the answer to the question: What 3 things would you do first as president? This woman needs crib notes to tell us what she would do as president??????? She is STUPID!

STUPID?

I don't think so.

mel-my comments are all

mel-my comments are all true--(with exception of a few opionions like being bored seeing his face 400 times+ on tv for a year). you have no proof of inaccuracies or you'd go after them. it's just in your nature.

Mel

I believe I corrected several of these inaccuracies in last week's comments to others' letters. I'm tired and bored. You can go look at my previous comments. Ta.

I did not vote for this President, but the independent candidates I vote for never stand a chance anyway. It's called a protest vote, and earns me the right to dissent and call things like I see them But I just cannot get on board with this crowd that is so vitriolic against this Administration. There's nothing he could do that they would support, and that kind of knee jerk politics is not what makes for a good back and forth. In the exchange of ideas arena, I hear nothing from that crowd except venom, but nothing else. It just doesn't go any deeper than that. We saw how their side governs, let's give this team a chance to set this country back right.

As a voter who did not vote for Obama, I never bought what he was promising. Having said that, I did hope he would be what he promised. Instead, 1/4 of his term is gone, and, just as I suspected, he has not done anything he promised. After 70 minutes of listening to his SOU address, I thought "Well, maybe he is now listening and things might get better." Wrong. Within 4 days, he made promises that went completely contrary to what he said in that address. How can anybody put any faith in what he says? As for you voting independent, I believe you are going to have a lot more people voting with you in the upcoming elections than you think. I'm thinking "Patriotic Party" sounds like a plan.

Mel

You could vote for Sarah Palin, if you don't mind having a candidate who has to read cheat notes off of her HAND during a Q&A session in which she was given questions in advance. LOL!!!

Notes

Did you watch any Q&A during Obama's campaign? Every single debate, speech, etc. ALL candidates had notes. Why do you single out Sarah Palin? So what if they use notes. Obama knew for a whole year he was to give a SOU speech in January, 2010. He had notes. So what?

mel-please disprove my

mel-please disprove my inaccuracies.

Mel

Fat chance, the onus is on you to prove these outrageous accusations. I don't play the "Glenn Beck" game. You can't just hurl accusations with no basis and then say "prove me wrong." The burden is on you, buddy.

ms darton--you left out a few

ms darton--you left out a few things---he took over banks and businesses, bailed out fannie and freddie who started this mess in the first place, waffled forever before making a decision on aphganistan, bored us to death putting his face on tv over 400 times, has failed to make things transparant as he promised, has trippled the national debt, raised the nat debt ceiling, created a 2000+ healthcare bill largely behind closed doors, failed to listen to bi-partisan ideas, blamed everything on bush for a year, refuses to produce a legal birth certificate, continues to surround himself with socialists, hires over 30 czars most with questionable political ties, continues to give free money to those who have not earned taking it away from those who do, bribed lawmakers with sweetheart deals, signed over 2000 pork bill earmarks he promised he would not do, and most recently is not putting himself in front of the media/controls what questions they might ask. yep--a great first year!

Mel

Too many inaccuracies in this reply to bother with. The birth certificate comment shows you to be a kook anyway...waste of time.
