I have recently noticed that there has been an outpouring of phoney grassroots opposition to this year's clean energy and climate bill.
We have seen well-heeled groups like those at Bonner and Associates and EnergyCitizens shell out money to generate so-called grassroots letters opposing the clean energy and climate bill.
But what about those of us who don't have deep pockets? Many of us have held meetings, made calls and signed petitions to encourage U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan and other legislators to support a strong bill to cap our global warming pollution and support renewable energy. Groups with deep pockets pay for many more TV ads than our side can afford.
All of us have seen ads and phony-baloney letters, but we haven't seen faces behind the majority of those who howl against strong federal action on climate change.
These campaigns are trying to convince the American people that there are good reasons to oppose climate change legislation and that their efforts are useless. However, events over the past few weeks have uncovered these campaigns.
To say we have lost is far from the truth. Time and time again polls have shown that the majority of Americans want strong action on climate change. This is not new.
Money can buy a slick ad or a high-priced legal firm, but it can't buy public opinion. Our citizens have better sense than that.

whether you 'believe' in global warming or not is irrelevant. the science isn't there. it's just not. sorry folks. legislation should be based on FACT. scientific FACT. the cap/trade is not. it is garbage. this is the country killer. the cost of h/c will dim in comparison.

And those are legitimate points. But you don't have to deny climate change exists to make them. It's not a loss for conservatives to look at a problem and say, "Yes, something needs to be done." I don't consider what we're doing now to even be a loss b/c we're not even in the game. It's a forfeit.

I think we can all agree that climate change/global warming is nothing but a liberal idea backed by a minority of the scientific community.
Suggest removalBut who really cares considering the more important things going on? Tell that to a liberal: there are more important things going on. That's why they are losing states so quickly - focusing on made up stuff that just doesn't matter.
Sad, really.

a politician moderates his vices to make decision, you'll need a cryogenic specialist to make it that long. However, you indirectly hit on my point. Gore demonstrates the infeasiblity of emissions controls, which is the Democrats answer to climate change. If a major proponent of climate change is still a major consumer of fossil fuels, why do Dems think others will do their part?

Yep, you got me, I'm really a raging socialist liberal who likes to put puppies in blenders, while I advocate for more conservative representation on policies that will affect us all. "Are you agreeing the caveman did melt the ice?" Silly.
Suggest removalThis isn't about an absolute truth that neither you or I are qualified to answer. This is about representation of conservative governing principles in government. Why would those of us who see a threat vote for candidates who can't even identify the problem we believe is real? Folks whose lives are devoted to this type of research is real, I believe them.

that Mel, the raging Democrat, automatically believes global warming is true because that's a liberal platform.
Suggest removalThat only proves that there is no real science driving this debate, but rather simple party platforms! HA!
And that is why no one believes/cares about global warming. I mean, climate change. I mean, polar bears. Or something.

90%? Where are you getting that figure? The Daily Kos? Huffington?
Suggest removalWhen you look at the actual numbers and data and scientiests, you see there is no real concensus - one way or another.
And until the "climate change" or "global warming" or "whatever" advocates can get at least 50% of scientists behind them, then maybe we'll start taking them seriously.

Afraid the Dems will bankrupt us on policies that won't work? Welcome to the club. Problem is, they've fielded a team to tackle what over 90% of climatologists say is problem. Where's our team? Sitting on the sidelines watching that twit Glen Beck cry on national television. I'm just begging Republicans to get in the game, don't leave the field undefended.

what i've noted is that there are as many scientists who say there is not such thing as global warming as those who say there is. agree that humans have anything to do with it. the costly cap and trade deal will cost jobs, create few, and the cost will be astronomical. our country cannot afford to engage in such foolishness.
