WINTERVILLE — The bats were connecting for Tommy Eason’s Pitt Community College baseball team in its season-opening doubleheader against Harford Community College on Saturday.

Too bad nothing else went the Bulldogs’ way.

Despite tallying more hits than the Fighting Owls in both matchups, the Bulldogs wasted multiple scoring opportunities and committed several costly errors on their way to a 4-3 defeat in the first game and a 9-5 setback in the second contest.
