WINTERVILLE — Each of the four Pitt Community College sophomores honored Saturday afternoon played a part in the Bulldogs’ 66-58 men’s basketball victory over Guilford Technical Community College.
Keovonta McDuffie scored a game-high 17 points, Chuckie Becton had nine points and six rebounds, Darren Wilson provided quality post play early in the contest and Christian Lawrence hit one of the game’s biggest shots — a 3-pointer that gave the Bulldogs their final lead about halfway through the second half.
“They have been the cornerstone (of the team). I brought them in for specific reasons and they all have great intangibles,” Pitt coach Darrick Mullins said of his sophomores, who were playing the final home game of their careers. “They are helping build the foundation and move the program forward, but they also helped us win tonight and that was big.”
