For the last few weeks, the East Carolina baseball team has been seemingly running against the wind.

On Saturday, the Pirates definitely felt the breeze at their backs in a much-needed 11-4 victory over visiting Monmouth.

McNeill forms Pirate football fight club

East Carolina football players are redefining the idea of fighting for playing time.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Ruffin McNeill, ECU players are putting on boxing gloves, and not to settle their differences. As part of their training to become better football players, they will also become better boxers under McNeill’s watch.

ROUNDUP: PCC splits softball games

WINTERVILLE — The Pitt Community College softball team split a pair of games with USC-Salkehatchie on Friday at the Sara Law Softball Complex.

After dropping Game 1 by a 3-2 count, the Bulldogs salvaged a split with the Indians by beating them, 3-2, in the second game.
