A battle of old versus young is brewing on the action sports scene, even if the combatants don't exactly recognize or knowingly compete in the conflict.
When the Dew Tour BMX Park competition begins today at the Pantech Open in Ocean City, Md., Daniel Dhers, a relative old-timer at 26 years old, will embark on defending his Park championship with a group of young upstarts nipping at his heels.
While Dhers and other veterans, many of them Greenville pros, are using savvy and experience in an attempt to stay near the top of the leaderboard, the youth movement, led by 16-year-old Brett “Mad Dog” Banasiewicz, is coming up with never-before-seen tricks or taking tricks others have performed and tweaking them to fit their all-out style.
