BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The East Carolina baseball team can only hope for one win in its three-game series with Alabama-Birmingham after the Blazers got a 5-3 victory on Saturday thanks to a four-run third inning.

UAB, which beat the Pirates 4-1 on Friday, scored four runs on three hits and one ECU error in the third frame. East Carolina (19-7, 2-3 Conference USA) scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings, but its comeback fell short.

UAB (16-10, 4-1) finished with six hits, all from different players.
