Cold-shooting Pirates lose at UCF

ORLANDO — The return of Maurice Kemp wasn’t enough to keep East Carolina’s men’s basketball team from dropping its third consecutive game on Saturday at Central Florida.

The host Knights swept the season series from the Pirates after notching a 64-55 victory on a night when ECU welcomed back Kemp, who sat out last Saturday’s loss at Marshall with a turf toe injury.

Even with Kemp back in the fold, East Carolina (12-13, 3-9 Conference USA) couldn’t find its outside shooting touch, going 4-of-24 (16.7 percent) from 3-point range.
