Who knew that Keyshawn Johnson — the former NFL wide receiver whose rookie memoir is titled “Just Give Me the Damn Ball!” — had such good life advice?

During his guest speaking engagement at the Greater Greenville Sports Club meeting Wednesday at the Greenville Hilton, former East Carolina standout receiver Terrance Copper shared a story about a conversation he had with Johnson when both were playing for the Dallas Cowboys in 2004.


Copper's pro football career was in its embryonic stage while Johnson, a three-time All-Pro selection, was nearing the end of his 11-year NFL run. The old pro gave the undrafted rookie some words of wisdom that Copper never forgot.
