Buoyed by the most preseason hype it has received in quite some time, the East Carolina men’s basketball team is set to embark on the 2012-13 season today when the Pirates take on Washington and Lee.

Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Minges Coliseum.

Coach Jeff Lebo, entering his third season at ECU, has helped breathe new life into a Pirate hoops team that had long been dormant before his arrival in 2010. In his first year, Lebo led East Carolina to its first winning season since the 1996-97 campaign before last season’s 15-16 finish.
