HOUSTON — East Carolina ended a two-game road swing with a 66-44 loss at Rice on Thursday, extending the Pirates’ losing streak to 10 consecutive games.

Freshman and South Central High School product Janesha Ebron posted career-high marks in points and rebounds with nine in each category while Chareya Smith led the Pirates with 10 points. ECU (6-13, 0-6 Conference USA) outrebounded the Owls 49-43, but the Pirates struggled offensively, making just 24 percent of their field goal attempts. ECU also committed 22 turnovers, leading to 26 Rice points.

The Owls (10-10, 4-3) hit five of their first seven shots and raced out to a 16-5 lead.
