This is the first installment of a two-part preview of the East Carolina men’s and women’s basketball teams. Today’s story will focus on the teams’ backcourts while tomorrow we’ll break down the frontcourt.

Having options is almost always a good thing, and when East Carolina men’s basketball coach Jeff Lebo looks at his group of guards, he must be delighted with the possibilities.


Lebo, in his second season in charge of the Pirates, has his starting backcourt from last season intact along with a mixture of new faces, some of whom have already made a positive impression on the coach in the run-up to Friday’s season opener at home against Milligan. Being able to switch styles depending on the opponent is a luxury Lebo is happy to have at the guard spots.
