One of the few season-long consistencies for the East Carolina football team along with mistakes has been injuries and a subsequent transient lineup.

This week — the first of two must-win weekends for a 4-6 ECU team hoping to extend its school record five straight bowl appearances to six — is no different in terms of comings and goings.


Second-year head coach Ruffin McNeill announced another of the latter on Monday, and its timing couldn’t be worse for the ECU offense. Reserve tailback Alex Owah has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules in a week the Pirates needed him to take on a bigger role.
