After a double-digit loss to Houston on March 24 dropped the East Carolina softball team to 9-20 overall and 1-5 in Conference USA, sophomore pitcher Sarah Christian helped steer the Pirates back in the right direction with a complete-game performance against N.C. State three days later in a 5-2 ECU win.
The victory against the Wolfpack sparked a turnaround that has been keyed by Christian’s pitching and an opportunistic offense. ECU has climbed into a tie for fourth place in C-USA with an 11-7 mark and is on a seven-game league winning streak heading into this weekend’s three-game set at Southern Miss.
During the Pirates’ win streak, Christian is 4-0 with 22 strikeouts and six earned runs allowed in 31 innings. She also recorded a save during the streak.
