The East Carolina baseball team has zoomed out to one of its best starts of the Billy Godwin coaching era, but the Pirates' skipper wants his team to hit the gas even harder now.
For the second time in Godwin's six-year tenure at ECU, the Pirates are 16-4 after 20 games, equaling the start of the 2009 team that eventually stretched its hot start to 20-4 and finished the campaign at the Chapel Hill Super Regional.
Hellbent on taking the final leap to the College World Series for the first time in club history, Godwin knows one the biggest enemies of the Pirates now is getting too comfortable.
