Even the most diehard East Carolina men’s basketball fan would have likely had trouble identifying all the players in Minges Coliseum on Friday afternoon.
Seven newcomers joined eight returners for ECU’s first team workout, which consisted of running a lot of drills with an emphasis on offensive and defensive fundamentals. The Pirates, under the direction of second-year coach Jeff Lebo, can hold these one-hour sessions once a week until practice starts Oct. 14.
Lebo, who led East Carolina to an 18-16 record last season — its first winning campaign since 1996-97 — said he’ll use workouts like Friday’s to learn as much as he can about the rookies.
