Reports surfaced Saturday that East Carolina’s Chase McDonald will sign with the Houston Astros, the team that drafted the Pirate slugger on June 8.
Houston selected McDonald, a former J.H. Rose standout, with the first pick of the 12th round, 347th overall.
McDonald, a junior, led ECU in home runs (11), RBIs (46) and slugging percentage last season. He batted .299 in 53 starts.
