ECU bounced back from a 76-74 loss at Campbell on Monday by beating Coker, 63-50, in Minges Coliseum. A stellar effort from senior Darrius Morrow — game-high 25 points with eight rebounds — was a bright spot in a game in which the Pirates were outrebounded, 41-32, by the Division II Cobras. ECU (2-1) was also off the mark from 3-point range for the second consecutive game, hitting just 4-of-17 from distance.
“It wasn’t a pretty offensive game, but it was a win for the Pirates,” said East Carolina coach Jeff Lebo, whose team has hit just 10-of-47 of its 3-point attempts in its last two games. “I’m glad that we won the game, even though we shot the ball poorly.
