East Carolina has yet to take a lead in any of its Conference USA men’s basketball games this season and has been tied with a league foe just once.

As dismal as that might seem for Pirate fans, the reality is that, although ECU (9-7) has lost three consecutive games to start C-USA play, it’s only been thoroughly outplayed in one of those games — an 81-63 loss at home to Central Florida on Jan. 7.

The Pirates can take some solace in the fact that, during defeats at Southern Miss on Jan. 4 and at home to Tulsa on Saturday, they had legitimate chances to either tie or win late in the second half.
