As conference realignment movement continued Friday, East Carolina’s men’s basketball team was busy getting a move on the upcoming season.

The Pirates held their first official practice in Minges Coliseum on Friday evening, a spirited 21⁄2-hour session that left second-year coach Jeff Lebo mostly satisfied.

“I thought our energy was good,” said Lebo, who led ECU to an 18-16 record in his debut season with the Pirates last campaign. “We’ve got a lot of new guys so we do have to teach and slow down a little bit and go back and do some of the same stuff. But it’s really not like our first practice. It’s our first official one and we can go longer, but we have some things in place.”
