The East Carolina Pirates were control freaks on Saturday night against Memphis, and it showed on the scoreboard in a 41-7 ECU blowout at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

A week after squandering a 14-0 lead in a loss at UCF, the Pirates erupted for a 14-0 edge again but this time added to it while the ECU defense delivered a near shutout performance, holding the Tigers scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Sophomore quarterback Shane Carden unleashed a career-high 308 pass yards and more than doubled his previous season touchdown total with five against the Tigers.
