Kyani White’s standout defensive effort against SMU sharpshooter Keena Mays helped the East Carolina women’s basketball team get a big win over the Conference USA-leading Mustangs on Thursday.

On Sunday, it was her offensive effort that helped pave the way to victory.

White was one of four players to score in double figures in an 82-60 win for the surging Pirates over Southern Miss in Minges Coliseum. White, a sophomore and Virginia Tech transfer playing in her initial season at ECU, tied her season-high with 12 points, all of which were in the first half.
