East Carolina’s offensive execution appears to be on nearly equal footing with the Pirates’ defensive effort as the Conference USA opener approaches.

ECU (8-4), which concludes non-conference play today at 1 against Virginia-Wise in Minges Coliseum, has erased the memory of a three-game losing streak by winning four consecutive games, the most recent an 84-76 victory over N.C. Central on Thursday night. The Pirates have averaged 75.0 points per game during the win streak and two areas of concern early in the season — field goal and free throw shooting — have been key components of ECU’s recent success.

The Pirates have shot at least 40 percent from the field the last four games while making even greater strides at the free throw line the last three, connecting on at least 78.6 percent from the stripe in wins over Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb and Central.
