Much of the preseason buzz surrounding the East Carolina men’s basketball team has been focused on the guards — particularly All-Conference USA preseason first-team pick Miguel Paul.
Paul’s stellar play last season and the C-USA preseason accolade certainly make the 6-foot-1 point guard worthy of recognition. But one of his backcourt mates — 6-foot junior Akeem Richmond — soon may be on the radar of ECU fans and opponents as well.
Richmond sat out last season in compliance with NCAA rules after the Sanford native transferred to East Carolina following two years at Rhode Island, and Paul pulled no punches when discussing the impact Richmond should have.
