MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The East Carolina women’s basketball team couldn’t get one of its three 3-point attempts to fall in during the final 18 seconds of a 62-59 loss to Conference USA rival Memphis on Sunday.

The Pirates’ Bryelle Smith attempted a 3 from the top of the key with 18 seconds left that looked good off of her hand, but bounced in and out then out of bounds off of Memphis. Smith then had two more shots from distance but could not convert, allowing the Tigers to escape.

The loss dropped ECU (6-10) to 0-3 in league play and extended the team’s losing streak to seven straight.
