FARMVILLE — There was no Terrance Copper on Saturday at Farmville Central High School, but that didn't take any of the shine off of the Ultimate Training and Performance Program football camp.
The Kansas City Chief and former East Carolina wide receiver was forced to miss the camp due to an unexpected engagement, but those in attendance received plenty of football tutelage from some expert sources, and the college and pro stars running the show relished an opportunity to provide something many of them didn't have as kids.
“It gives them hope,” former University of North Carolina defensive back Steve Fisher said of his dedication to participating in camps for kids like the UTAPP event. “When I was a young guy, I didn't really see any guys that actually went to college, and they didn't know anything about scholarships. But for me to be able to talk to kids, whenever I get an opportunity, I'm going to take it and say, ‘You can do this, you can work hard in school, you can stay out of trouble and stay focused.'”
