It didn’t take long for Danielle Butts to get comfortable as a Tar Heel, both on and off the court.
In her freshman season, the former South Central star has already established herself as a key role player for the 18th-ranked North Carolina women’s basketball team. She has scored at least six points in all but two of Carolina’s games, including 17 and 16 in her last two outings, and Butts said after Wednesday’s practice that she is starting to adjust well to the pace of the college game.
In the classroom, Butts walked into her first class of the fall semester and a familiar face helped calm her nerves. Amber Clark, a longtime friend who graduated with Butts at SC and now runs track for the Heels, was already sitting in the room.
