D.H. Conley's players gained some confidence throughout the course of last season while achieving some success, but second-year head coach Brian Paschal wants more.
Conley entered the 2010 season on a 18-game losing streak and the skid reached 22 until the Vikings beat West Craven, 28-14, in late September. DHC then went 2-1 in its next three games, ended the season 4-3 in the Coastal Conference and earned a spot in the 3-AA state playoffs.
“When you win four football games, that's really good I think with a team that lost 18 in a row going into the season,” Paschal said. “But you still have to realize when you win four games, you also lost eight games. Although we did attain some success, it wasn't where this program wants to be and we didn't feel like we arrived. It was a good first step.”
