BETHEL — After Tuesday night’s state playoff wrestling match was completed and Topsail was determined the winner, the coaches from North Pitt and Topsail stood around and discussed how good the match was.
Despite his team losing because of a tiebreaker, NP coach Todd Cochran told the Topsail coaches, “That’s the way all playoff matches should be.”
The two teams won first-round matches earlier in the day and then traded the lead multiple times until the score was knotted, 34-34. Topsail was awarded the 35-34 win because it won seven weight classes during the match, which was one more victory than the host Panthers had.
