J.H. Rose outplayed and outscored Rocky Mount in the second half of their game at Rose on Friday night, but a dismal first half created a hill too steep for the Rampants to climb.
The Gryphons shut Rose out in the first two quarters before withstanding a second half Rampant rally en route to a 28-14 victory that keeps Rocky Mount unbeaten this season.
Rose dropped its second straight and fell to 1-4.
