State championship berths on the line

The Daily Reflector

Monday, November 02, 2009

High school playoff action continues tonight with two volleyball Eastern Regional finals in Greenville.

D.H. Conley (26-2) will host Cardinal Gibbons (24-1) at 6 in the 3-A ranks, and undefeated J.H. Rose (23-0) will host Enloe (24-3) at 7 in the 4-A Eastern final.

The state championships will be held in Raleigh on Saturday.

In girls' tennis, J.H. Rose (12-0) will host Mideastern Conference rival Wilmington Hoggard (13-1) in the third round of the 4-A state playoffs at 4.

The boys' soccer state playoffs begin on Wednesday, with Farmville Central and Ayden-Grifton both hosting matches.

The Jaguars (14-5-1) play Whiteville (9-9-3) in the first round of the 2-A playoffs, and A-G (7-6-2) opens the 1-A playoffs against Union (9-5-2).

D.H. Conley (9-8-3) also made the 3-A playoffs and will open at Hertford (0-10).

To money not the problem

Not sure what stands you are looking at, but most of the people in the stands are parents, not students. The original shout out for fan support was just that, come out and support the team. If those with negative comments don't want to support Rose, that's fine, we don't want you anyway.

Rose parents and students are supportive, on Halloween we probably had 20 plus fans at the Conley volleyball match supporting them in their quest for the state 3A championships.

The Rose football stands are full on Friday nights at $7 a ticket. I don't think your $6 ticket is the problem.
Good luck to Conley and Rose Volleyball!

Sounds like you're a great fan of your child's school. However, you need to get your facts straight. Your school's administration turned down the opportunity to be in the Raleigh conference, was given Wilmington instead and then fought the realignment by going to NCHSAA (even your county superintendent went to fight for Rose which she has not done for any other school in the county). So don't whine about Rose not getting support.

Hey Greenville! Rose needs your support! The Raleigh teams didn't want Rose in their conference sending us to Wilmington all season. Now THEY have to come to Greenville for volleyball (ha!) TUES., NOV. 3 at 7pm. They're bringing Activity Buses of students to support them!! COME OUT AND SUPPORT Rose Volleyball!! Rose vs Enloe will be a great game! Well worth the $6 admission price! Wish they didn't have to charge students - doesn't seem right - if you can pay for a Rose student to go, please do!
