J.H. Rose speedster Marquis Gorham has a simple approach to kickoff returns. He prefers to cut across the grain of the coverage team by reversing field.

If that doesn’t work, Gorham said Plan B is to simply outrun the players on the other team.

That philosophy led to Gorham scoring five times on special teams and being named The Daily Reflector’s Special Teams Player of the Year. The senior averaged around 35 yards per kickoff return and was picked by The Associated Press as the top kick returner in the state.
