Two weeks from Friday, Alex White should be able to throw a baseball again, most likely in some sparsely populated bullpen and probably without him even climbing the pitcher's mound.
It'll be quite a departure from the last time White toed the rubber on May 20 when he pitched the first three innings of the Indians' 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds in front of 31,622 fans at Cleveland's Progressive Field.
After throwing a slider in the third inning against the Reds, White sprained a ligament in his right middle finger, an injury that has derailed his rookie season in the major leagues. Up until that point, the campaign must have felt like a fairy tale to the former D.H. Conley star who enjoyed a meteoric rise to the big leagues, making his MLB debut on April 30 at age 22.
