Allen Smith has made quite an impression in 18 months as president and chief executive officer of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce in Greer, S.C.
The 31-year-old East Carolina University graduate and former senior vice president of the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce recently was named Citizen of the Year by the city’s newspaper, The Greer Citizen.
“I’m paid, as the chamber president, to essentially be the Citizen of the Year every year,” Smith said in an interview with The Greer Citizen. “For me to be honored like this is completely humbling, considering the scores of people who have worked much longer and harder than I have to make this city all I know it can be. This honor is dedicated to them and all the people that have come before me to make our community successful.”
