Burroughs working to spread word of Village of Yesteryear

0 Comments | Leave a Comment

The East Carolina Village of Yesteryear has begun its new life at 4570 County Home Road after moving its 18 structures from the Pitt County Fairgrounds.

Plans call for a museum and community venue to open in early 2011. An exhibition hall is planned as well as park space that could be used for festivals and other community activities, according to William “Bill” H. Burroughs of Greenville, who is working with the group to spread the word of its activities and generate public support for the project.

Flyers that describe in detail the village's plans have been distributed throughout the county. The mission of the East Carolina Village of Yesteryear is “to preserve and interpret architectural and agricultural life in Pitt County and easterm North Carolina from 1840 to 1940.”
