Williamston – Town officials met Tuesday to name an interim town administrator and make plans to begin the search for a new town administrator.
John O’Daniel announced last week his resignation from the post would become official Feb. 26.
After discussions regarding advertising the position, town officials went into closed session for the purpose of personnel matters, as described in North Carolina General Statute 143-318.11 (a)(3).
Upon returning into open session, town commissioners unanimously approved the naming of Christina Craft, the town’s current clerk, to the position of interim town administrator.
Craft, who has been with the town just over six years, will begin the position on Feb. 26, which is O’Daniel’s last day on the job.
Craft came to the town of Williamston with nearly two decades of diverse experience on the staff of Washington County Hospital.
During her time there, Craft worked in accounting, administration and human resources with a lengthy stint in the hospital’s information technology (IT) department.
