RHS Golf - State

The Riverside High School golf team earned the number four position in the state tournament.

SOUTHERN PINES - The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) held the State 1A Men’s Golf Championship at Longleaf Golf and Family Club in Southern Pines this past Monday and Tuesday (May 9-10).

The State Championship included the top 12 teams and 36 individuals.

Riverside High School finished in fourth place behind South Stanley, Mitchell and Christ the King High Schools.

The weather on those days created challenges for the golfers, the temperature was in the 50’s combined with 15-20 mph winds.

“We didn’t have the results we wanted, but fourth place isn’t bad,” said RHS Head Coach Thomas Wynne.

Gabe Wynne finished in 12th place, Isaiah Taylor 19th place. Sam Hardison 32nd place and Trenton Cowan finished 48th in first state appearance out of 84 players.

“I am very proud of these you men. The support from the parents and the community has been outstanding. Our trip would not have been possible without.” Coach Wynne concluded thankfully.
