Melissa Phillips, 20, Greenville
Her... magazine’s new college intern is Melissa M. Phillips, 20, a junior at East Carolina University double-majoring in apparel merchandising and journalism in the College of Human Ecology and College of Fine Arts and Communication.
A native of Jacksonville, she lives with her dog, Parker, in Greenville.
She’s secretary of The Caribbean Student Association and is involved in the Apparel and Interior Merchandising Organization, Student Government Association and Pirate Tutoring Center.
An early bird, her first job was Santa’s helper at the mall. She loves to sew and could eat Nutella and almonds every day. She’s always wanted to skydive. She collects fashion magazines and newspapers and the best thing she ever won is a book signed by TOMS shoes creator Blake Mycoskie.
Her favorite place in the world is Austria. Her best splurge ever was an iPad. Her hidden talent is archery, she wishes she could read music and gum chewing really ticks her off.
The three words that describe her? “Awkward but awesome.”
