Boys & Girls Clubs of America President and CEO Jim Clark got a round of applause from teenagers he visited at a Greenville club on Thursday afternoon. But Clark, who took the helm of the nation’s largest youth development organization a year and a half ago, said it is the local organization that deserves praise.

“This is a remarkable organization,” he said following a tour of three of the five Boys & Girls Clubs in Pitt County. “This club and this organization is extremely progressive and innovative.”

The visit by Clark, the 11th president and chief executive officer since the Boys & Girls Clubs of America was founded in 1906, comes about two weeks after the completion of a merger between Boys & Girls Clubs in Pitt and Lenoir counties.
